Join us in congratulating the City of Jacksonville’s employee of the month, Lt. Jason Campbell of the Jacksonville Police Department!

Campbell has been with the department for just over 13 years, and a police officer for 20. In that time he’s worked in several capacities with local law enforcement agencies, starting in corrections and working as a member of the Calhoun-Cleburne Drug Task Force, a SWAT team member with the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office and as an investigator with the Jacksonville police, among other roles here.

“I’ve worked in some great places, but I really enjoy the community here and the people I work with,” Campbell said, when asked why he chose to spend the majority of his career here.

It makes sense that he finds value in community; a big part of his decision to become a police officer came from a passion for helping and serving others.

“I wanted to be that guy who defends people that can’t defend themselves,” Campbell said.

In his spare time, Campbell enjoys coaching. He was a baseball and football player in high school, he said, and he spent four years coaching his daughter’s softball team at Faith Christian School, and six years coaching 18u travel fastpitch. Even now, he remains involved in sports, having just retired from coaching but still umpiring softball and refereeing football. He’s also very involved in his family life, with wife Shay and daughter Jordan, and sons Judson, Jackson, Owen and Brady.

Campbell said he was glad for the Employee of the Month recognition from the community.

“I strive every day to do the best job I can, not only for myself but for the people that work here and the community, so it feels good to be recognized,” he said.
