Coosa County Sheriff’s Office details weekly arrests and calls for service

The Coosa County Sheriff’s Office reported a total jail population of 50 inmates as of January 25, 2026, consisting of 42 males and 8 females.

Between January 19 and January 25, several arrests were made. On January 20, Deputy Brown arrested Shaniquah Rachelle Wilson from Goodwater, Alabama, for failure to appear in court. She was processed at the Coosa County Jail with a $1,000 bond.

On January 21, Deputy Parker arrested Bennie Carl Thomas of Sylacauga, Alabama, on charges of driving under the influence. He was processed into the jail with a $2,000 bond and is awaiting sentencing by the courts.

On January 25, multiple arrests occurred. Deputy Kelley arrested Donald Floyd Gissendanner Jr., also from Sylacauga, for first-offense drug paraphernalia possession. His bond was set at $2,500. That same day, Deputy Parker arrested Lloyd Jerrell Crow III of Sylacauga on charges including third-degree domestic violence/assault, possession of a controlled substance, and first-offense possession of drug paraphernalia; his bond was set at $12,500.

Deputy Kelley also arrested Ashton Mackenzie Lytton from Weogufka for criminal trespassing with a $500 bond and Christopher Michael Palmer from Weogufka for third-degree criminal trespassing and attempting to break or enter a vehicle with a $3,000 bond.

During this period, deputies responded to various calls for service across Stewartville, Hanover, Rockford, Kellyton, Equality, and Mt Olive. Incidents included reports of suspicious persons or vehicles, disabled motorists needing assistance without incident or issue found upon arrival in most cases. There were also responses to complaints about excessive noise and animal issues; in these cases deputies either assessed situations as safe or provided advice to owners.

In Rockford and Kellyton specifically, deputies took reports related to property damage and thefts which are currently under investigation. Deputies also responded to requests for citizen assists and domestic disputes throughout the week.

No major injuries or escalations were reported during these incidents.
