Coosa County Sheriff’s Office details weekly arrests and service calls

The Coosa County Sheriff’s Office reported a total jail population of 48 inmates as of November 2, 2025, consisting of 37 males and 11 females. During the week of October 27 to November 2, several arrests were made by deputies.

On October 27, Deputy Brown arrested Thomas Eric Ponder from Weogufka on charges of harassment and third-degree assault. He was processed and released on his own recognizance. Sgt. Rudd arrested Joree Searight from Montgomery for failure to appear; Searight was booked with a $220.30 cash bond.

On October 28, Sgt. Rudd also arrested Travis Chet Green from Sylacauga for criminal mischief and menacing, with a bond set at $6,500.

On October 29, Deputy Kelley arrested Brian Thomas Prather Brooks from Sylacauga for third-degree domestic violence; his bond was set at $2,500. On the same day, Deputy Moeser arrested Jessica Lynne Hamilton from Columbiana on two counts of failure to appear in court; she received a $2,000 cash bond.

On October 30, Sgt. Ward arrested Joseph Bradley Russell from Sylacauga on two counts of first-degree receiving stolen property with a $1,000 bond. That day also saw two more arrests by Deputy Moeser: Nicholas Paul Yeager from Sterrett was charged with public intoxication, resisting arrest, and attempting to elude an officer (bond: $4,000), while Terry Wallace Ginn from Lineville was charged with public intoxication (bond: $500).

Throughout the week, deputies responded to various calls across Coosa County communities including Marble Valley, Stewartville, Weogufka, Hanover, Mt Olive, Kellyton, Rockford, Cottage Grove/Hissop, Equality and Ray. These calls included reports of thefts under investigation in Stewartville (Coosa County Road 39), Weogufka (Coosa County Road 56), Cottage Grove/Hissop (Coosa County Road 101), and Ray (AL Highway 259). Deputies also handled multiple incidents involving disabled motorists in several locations such as US Highway 231 and US Highway 280.

Other notable responses included welfare checks resulting in medical transport on Shiloh Drive in Stewartville and arrests following domestic disputes or unwanted persons reported in Mt Olive (Cripple Creek Trail) and Stewartville (Coosa County Road 74). Several civil disturbances or suspicious activity reports did not result in further action after deputies assessed the situations.

No injuries or major incidents were reported during these responses according to the information provided by the sheriff’s office.
