Coosa County Sheriff’s Office logs arrests and incidents for early January

The Coosa County Sheriff’s Office reported a total jail population of 44 inmates as of January 11, 2026, consisting of 36 males and 8 females.

Between January 5 and January 11, deputies made several arrests. On January 7, Deputy Kelley arrested Shane Eugene Jarrett from Clanton, Alabama on charges of public intoxication and use or possession of drug paraphernalia. Jarrett was processed into the county jail with a $3,000 bond. The following day, Deputy Kelley arrested Geronda Lee Judkins from Goodwater, Alabama for driving under the influence; Judkins was held on a $2,000 bond.

On January 10, Deputy Brown arrested Chiquita Ann Smith from Wetumpka, Alabama for failure to appear in court. Smith’s bond was set at $500. On January 11, Deputy Brown also arrested David Reace Brewer from Alexander City, Alabama on two counts of failure to appear in court. Brewer was processed with a $3,000 cash bond.

Deputies responded to various calls for service across different communities during the week. In Stewartville on January 5, deputies along with Coosa County Coroner Jack Brewer responded to Apple Circle after reports of a deceased person; the scene was turned over to the coroner. Deputies also conducted business checks and addressed incidents such as harassment by communications and suspicious vehicles.

In Hanover and other areas including Mt Olive and Kellyton, deputies assisted disabled motorists and responded to reports ranging from assault to property damage and theft. In Richville on January 7, a driver involved in a disabled vehicle incident was later arrested without incident.

Additional responses included fraud investigations in Rockford and assisting citizens with mental health needs in Cottage Grove/Hissop. Deputies also addressed reports of menacing, harassment, domestic disputes in Ray, as well as litter abatement efforts in Stewartville.

No further information about ongoing investigations or outcomes beyond initial reports has been provided by the sheriff’s office.
