Coosa County Sheriff’s Office reports arrests and jail population for early December

The Coosa County Sheriff’s Office reported a total jail population of 36 inmates as of December 14, 2025. This includes 29 males and 7 females.

During the week of December 8 to December 14, several arrests were made. On December 8, Sgt. Rudd arrested Gregory Harold Browning from Ashland, Alabama, for failure to appear in court. Browning was processed into the Coosa County Jail with a $436 cash bond.

On December 10, Deputy Parker arrested Joseph Lee Lewis of Alexander City, Alabama. Lewis faced charges of public intoxication and falsely reporting an incident. He was processed with a $3,000 bond.

On December 12, Deputy Brown arrested Starkeisha Nicole Silmon from Camp Hill, Alabama, on two counts of failure to appear in court. Silmon’s bond was set at $1,000.

Also on December 12, Chief Hammond arrested Joshua Shemar Mitchell from Alexander City for failure to appear in court. Mitchell received a $350 cash bond.

Throughout the same period, deputies responded to various calls for service across Coosa County communities including Stewartville, Weogufka, Hanover, Kellyton, Richville, Rockford, Equality, Ray, Lake Martin and Wildlife Management areas. These calls included business checks where businesses were found secure; animal complaints; welfare checks; reports of suspicious persons; civil disturbances; harassment by communication; theft of property; disabled motorists who were assisted without incident; equipment and property damage reports; noise complaints; domestic incidents in progress; citizen assists; public intoxication leading to arrest and false residential alarms.

No major incidents or injuries were reported during these responses. Reports were taken when necessary for information purposes or as required by the nature of each call.
