The Coosa County Sheriff’s Office reported a total of 51 inmates, consisting of 40 males and 11 females, in the county jail as of February 22, 2026. The office also released details regarding arrests and calls for service during the week of February 16 to February 22.
During this period, several individuals were arrested on various charges. On February 16, Deputy Brown arrested Eureka Shardae Thomas from Kellyton, Alabama for failing to appear in court. She was processed into jail with a $500 bond.
On February 17, Deputy Brown also arrested Kristina Lea Elliot from Goodwater, Alabama on three counts of failure to appear in court. She was held without bond. Sgt. Ward made two additional arrests that day: Kevin Michael Butts from Kellyton was charged with burglary third degree, theft of property third degree, possession of burglary tools, and use or possession of drug paraphernalia; his bond was set at $22,500. Angel Nicole Baker from Lineville faced similar charges and bond amount.
Deputy Kelley arrested Melinda Rae Meeks from Sylacauga on February 18 for illegal possession of prescription drugs with a $500 bond.
On February 20, Deputy Parker took Lavenda Jermaine Smith from Goodwater into custody for two counts of failure to appear in court; Smith’s cash bond was set at $640.80.
February 22 saw two arrests by Deputy Kelley: Curtis Adam Limbaugh from Alexander City was detained for failure to appear in court with a $500 bond; Allen Bernard Barefield from Sylacauga faced multiple charges including unlawful distribution of a controlled substance and promoting prison contraband among others. His bond totaled $32,500.
In addition to these arrests, deputies responded to numerous calls across different communities in Coosa County:
– In Stewartville and other areas such as Hanover and Mt Olive, deputies addressed reports ranging from harassment and burglar alarms to animal complaints and welfare checks.
– Multiple disabled motorists received assistance throughout the week.
– Deputies conducted extra patrols on several county roads where no incidents were reported.
– Calls related to excessive noise were investigated but did not result in formal reports.
– Other responses included handling situations involving suspicious persons or vehicles and addressing juvenile-related concerns.
No significant injuries or threats were reported during these activities according to information provided by the sheriff’s office.
