On June 28th of 2021, the City of Anniston publicly kicked off its comprehensive planning process. After nearly a year of surveys, public meetings, and all around hard work, we are proud to present the revised draft of our city-wide comprehensive plan to the public for another round of citizen input on May 5, 2022 at 6:00 PM at the Anniston City Meeting Center (1615 Noble Street, Anniston, AL 36201).

City leadership encourages all citizens to attend this meeting in order to provide their feedback, comments, and questions on the plan. After this public hearing, there will be two additional public hearings prior to the plan’s final adoption; one with the City of Anniston’s Planning Commission, and then a final public input session with the Anniston City Council.

This Comprehensive Plan will serve as a policy instrument for our government for future decisions on regulations, funding allocations, and the management of our environment. Comprehensive plans establish long-range goals for the community. This plan will guide decisions on recreation, economic development, and more for years to come.

“The core of a city’s comprehensive plan is the community and its citizens. The ef ort and participation to date from our citizenry has provided the City of Anniston with a collective path towards good policy and future economic growth. We are proud to soon utilize this plan as a guiding mechanism for long-term sustainability and success,” stated the City of Anniston Director of Planning and Economic Development, Toby Bennington.
