The bats were on fire in game one of a three game series at UTSA on Thursday night as the UAB baseball team notched an 18-7 victory at Roadrunner Field.
The Blazers (31-21, 13-15 C-USA) have now scored 44 runs in their last three games and look to stay hot as they head to postseason play following this weekend's series.
Josh Sears was 4-for-6 with two home runs and now has 17 homers this year, which is tied for the fourth most in a single season at UAB. He also added to his team-high total in runs batted in with four more tonight and now has 63 on the year, one shy of cracking UAB's top 10 in that category as well.
Sears paced the offense which saw every starter tally at least one hit. The Blazers had two lopsided innings with six runs in the third and a season-high 10 runs in the seventh to put the game out of reach. UTSA (33-19, 17-11 C-USA) committed five errors which helped UAB build an insurmountable lead.
The 18 runs for UAB were a season high.
Jackson Reynolds started the game on the mound and threw two innings, allowing two hits and one run. Tyler O'Clair pitched four innings in relief and picked up his second win of the season.
Game two of the series is set for Friday night at 6 p.m. CST on CUSA.tv. Live stats are also available by clicking here.
