Jacksonville State University Volleyball Head Coach Todd Garvey announced the addition of Maddie Stayer to the 2022 signing class, Tuesday.
Stayer will join the Gamecocks in 2022, with three years of eligibility, following a two-year stint at the University of Southern Mississippi.
The 6-0 setter participated in 11 matches with the Golden Eagles and averaged 5.7 assists per set through in 2021. Last season, Stayer recorded a career-high 23 assists in just two sets against Mississippi Valley.
Prior to attending Southern Miss, the Mentor, Ohio native turned in a standout career for Mentor High School where she was a two-time team captain and surpassed 1,000 assists. Stayer earned First-Team All-Conference and District 2 Second Team honors during her senior season. She helped lead Mentor HS to three District Finals appearances and was selected to participate in the OHSVCA District 2 All-Star game.
"We are excited to add Maddie to our volleyball program," said Garvey. "She is a tall and athletic setter who will be a great addition to our program. We were really impressed with her as a person on and off the court during the recruiting process. I think she is a player who will come in and fit in really well with our team and program."
