The University of Alabama at Birmingham Minority Health and Health Disparities Research Center will host its annual UAB Health Disparities Research Symposium with a focus on moving from health disparities to health equity Thursday, Sept. 8, at noon.
The virtual symposium highlights work by academic investigators, students and community partners in basic science, clinical research, social and behavioral science, community-based, and health outcomes research in the field of health disparities.
During this session, moderated by Regina Benjamin, M.D., 18th United States surgeon general, panelists include:
- Eliseo J. Pérez-Stable, M.D., Director, National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities, NIH
- Marcella Nunez-Smith, M.D., MHS, Founding Director of the Equity Research and Innovation Center, Yale School of Medicine
- George A. Mensah, M.D., FACC Director, Center for Translation Research and Implementation Science, National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, NIH
