The women's tennis team at Jacksonville State University will travel south this weekend to conclude their fall slate with an appearance in the Stetson Fall Invite. After an impressive start to his third season in Calhoun County, head coach Mike Mucci is hoping for another strong outing in DeLand, Fla.
Jacksonville State started their fall schedule with back-to-back exhibition victories against Peach State foes West Georgia and Kennesaw State. After a nice showing at the GS Shootout in early October, JSU saw deep runs in the main draw from freshman Serafima Shastova and sophomore Anna Syrova at the ITA Southern Regionals.
Just like those events across the southeast, this weekend's Stetson Fall Invite will serve as another opportunity for the Gamecocks to flex their muscles against solid competition. Other teams competing at the invitational include Coastal Carolina, Florida State, Saint Leo, Stetson, and Troy.
The Stetson Fall Invite will have a hidden dual format with singles and doubles competition against numerous opponents throughout the weekend. Jax State will start with action against Stetson at noon Friday and will take on Troy beginning at noon the following day. JSU will wrap up their weekend of fun in the Florida sun with matches versus Coastal Carolina at 8 a.m. Sunday.
