Week ending Dec. 10, 2022: Five businesses registered in cities found in Calhoun County

There were five businesses that registered in cities within Calhoun County in the week ending Dec. 10, 2022, according to the Alabama Secretary of State.

This is 29 percent less than the week before, when seven businesses were registered.

Anniston registered the most businesses in Calhoun County.

More than 99 percent of Alabama's businesses are considered small, with more than 47 percent of Alabama's employees working for a small business, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration.

A Civic Economics study found $100 spent at a locally-owned business puts $47 back into the local economy while the total is just $13 for non-local businesses.
