U.S. Representative Mike Rogers addressed national security challenges in the Indo-Pacific region during a House Armed Services Committee hearing. Rogers highlighted various critical issues and outlined the need for strategic responses to current threats.

Rogers began by emphasizing the significance of the Indo-Pacific region, stating, "Today we continue our posture hearings with INDOPACOM and U.S. Forces Korea." He pointed out the concerning situation in North Korea, describing the leader as someone "who would rather build an illegal nuclear arsenal than feed his starving people."

Expressing his apprehensions about North Korea's missile technology advancements, Rogers mentioned, "I am very concerned the advances in Kim’s missile technology is the result of a strengthening alliance with Putin." He also highlighted the partnership between Putin and Xi, stating, "Shortly after the invasion, Putin and Xi entered into a 'no limits partnership'."

Regarding China's military build-up, Rogers remarked, "China’s extraordinary military build-up is certainly concerning." He further pointed out China's provocative actions in recent years, including expanding borders with defense agreements and threatening allies in the region.

In response to these challenges, Rogers stressed the need to accelerate military modernization and enhance readiness in the region. He also emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships in the region and supporting allies with agreements like AUKUS.

Rogers concluded by underlining the gravity of the threats posed by China and the importance of a resolute response. He stated, "We have no choice but to take Xi’s threats seriously," and emphasized the need to expedite support to Taiwan for defending their democracy.

The hearing provided a platform for discussions on assessing these threats and identifying the necessary support required to deter them effectively.
