Washington, D.C. – Today, several key military service organizations have come together to express their support for the Servicemember Quality of Life Improvement Act, a significant piece of legislation that aims to enhance the well-being of military families. The act is set to form the basis of the Fiscal Year 2025 National Defense Authorization Act.
"In a time of increased international conflict, we must recognize where mission readiness originates: the military family," emphasized Blue Star Families CEO Kathy Roth-Douquet, underscoring the vital role of military families in ensuring mission readiness.
Shannon Razsadin, CEO of the Military Family Advisory Network, highlighted the importance of the military's human capital, stating, “Our military’s strongest asset is our people. MFAN’s data continue to show that service members and their families choose to serve because they believe in our country, our democracy, and the opportunities that military service can provide their families.”
Acknowledging the collaborative effort behind the legislation, MOAA President and CEO Lt. Gen. Brian T. Kelly, USAF (Ret.), praised the bipartisan teamwork involved in understanding the needs of the military community. He expressed eagerness to see the proposed policies come to fruition, especially those aimed at supporting junior members.
Besa Pinchotti, CEO of the National Military Family Association, emphasized the sacrifices made by service members and their families, stating, “Our service members and their families answer America’s call every day... The recommendations made by the Quality of Life panel will reduce financial stress for hundreds of thousands of military families, allowing them to focus on the mission.”
