U.S. Representative Mike Rogers (R-AL), Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, issued a statement on the 23rd anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks.

"On September 11, 2001, Al Qaeda terrorists orchestrated the worst attack on U.S. soil since Pearl Harbor – claiming the lives of thousands of innocent victims," Rogers said.

"23 years later, the threat terrorist groups pose to our nation has not diminished and continues to metastasize. We must never forget September 11, 2001 and we must respond forcefully to terrorism in order to degrade and destroy these groups," he added.
