Washington, D.C. – Quality of Life Panel Chairman Rep. Don Bacon and Quality of Life Panel member Rep. Mark Alford recently engaged in a discussion on Mark Alford’s America regarding their efforts to enhance the quality of life for servicemembers in the FY25 NDAA.

Rep. Bacon, drawing from his extensive military experience, expressed his concern about the struggles faced by enlisted forces, highlighting the reliance on food banks and the substandard conditions of barracks. He emphasized the bipartisan collaboration within the Panel, stating, "We were a single team getting a job done."

Rep. Alford underscored the non-partisan nature of the initiative, emphasizing that improving servicemembers' quality of life is crucial for recruitment and retention, especially amidst challenges in attracting young individuals to military service.

Regarding compensation, Rep. Alford announced a significant 15% pay raise for lower enlisted personnel (E-1 through E-4), while Rep. Bacon addressed the need to rectify past reductions in allowances and support military spouses who often face difficulties with professional licenses when relocating.

The discussion also delved into the comprehensive efforts to bolster quality of life in the upcoming NDAA, with Rep. Alford noting the multitude of changes planned and Chairman Rogers' prioritization of this aspect. Rep. Bacon echoed the sentiment, emphasizing that investing in servicemembers' well-being is essential for maintaining a strong All-Volunteer Force.

The joint efforts of Rep. Bacon and Rep. Alford reflect a commitment to prioritizing servicemembers' welfare in the FY25 NDAA, recognizing the fundamental role quality of life plays in sustaining a resilient and effective military force.
